Eric, are these going to be regular? If so, is it possible they could be posted
somewhere else perhaps? I'm finding it difficult to keep up with
opensolaris-discuss already.

thanks,
john

Yes.

Yes I'd be glad to... I just need help figuring out where. Jim mentioned
including them in the newsletter. Would that suffice? For feed-reader
(RSS) users, it's easy to post them via RSS (e.g. by tagging them in
del.icio.us), but I assume you're talking about posting them via a
mail-list...

I think so, or even just RSS would be good enough I think.

cheers!

OK, for RSS users, let's give the del.icio.us method a shot. Here's a
feed I created:

http://del.icio.us/rss/bootblog/oss:rollups

I've posted/tagged the first two, therefore they should show up
immediately in your reader when you subscribe.

Going forward, new ones are easy (take just seconds) to post/tag on
Delicious, and it also doesn't matter where we end up deciding to post
the originals -- e.g. somewhere other than opensolaris-discuss.

Eric

What I'll do is include in the newsletter a summary of whatever Eric
puts out each monthly. For the time being, the newsletter will be
archived in the content project; however, that's probably not the best
final home for it. I view the content project as just a working space
that will help produce content for multiple venues. But I'm happy to
have Eric's discussion rolls ups posted in the content project as well
until we can decide where to put some of this stuff.

Ultimately, I think the articles page should be re-designed and be the
home for a variety of types of content -- including the newsletter and
the discussion roll ups.

Alternatively, we could propose a re-design of the news page for all of
it. Currently, the news page is simply links to external news articles
about OpenSolaris, and the marketing representatives manage that page.
Perhaps we could re-consider the roll of that page. Perhaps the
newsletter could be issued there just as if it were another news item.
Or maybe the newsletter could have its own section on that page, along
with a section for the discussion roll ups. Maybe articles could be
moved there, too, so we have one space to point people to for a variety
of types of general content (stuff that doesn't logically live within
specific communities). If there is some interest in this, I can propose
it to marketing and get their take, as well as flush out a proposal on
the website-discuss list. Just some ideas to think about.

Jim
