That's great! Now all we need is Adobe Reader for x86 Solaris and we have the full set!
Cheers
Andrew.

Someone should sue Adobe for anticompetitive monopolistic behavior.

That won't get their cooperation unless it wins. While I'm not a lawyer, I don't see how it could.
Tell Adobe how they'll make money off of you for doing what you want, or just find some other alternative. Those who have lots of disk space, probably set up an LX zone and display back, which with shared home directories and a wrapper on the Solaris side using ssh with X forwarding, probably wouldn't be too bad (except no browser plugin capability that way unless you display back an entire browser, which might not work so well for other things, like anything with audio or video).
I wonder whether their getting Flash current on Solaris (both platforms) is a hopeful sign, or if the Flash and Acrobat Reader folks are marching to different drummers.

Sun's deal for Flash was with Macromedia, before the Adobe merger, so I don't think it can be read as any sign of change from the Adobe side.

Ah, didn't realise that. I'm guessing a large wad of cash changed hands. Here's me thinking they realised Solaris was *the* up-and-coming open-source OS.
Cheers
Andrew.

I have been able to install flashplayer9 into Builds 55b/56 (I am waiting for Build 62)) and 10u3. This is a very painless process; all you need to do is move the existing libflashplayer.so to a backup file (say libflashplayer.so.7) then copy the extracted libflashplayer.so into the same directory. Re-start firefox. Done.
With regard to the suggestion to "sue Adobe" mentioned in the subsequent post, we need to realize that as late as one year ago, or even only six months ago, no person of reasonable mind would consider desktop Solaris is anything other than an oxymoron. Now, of course, things have changed to everyone's wildest surprise. But if no one files bug reports, or if the number of downloads is disappointing, we will be assured that Flashplayer 9 will stay at the beta level. & there goes the conspiracy theory.

Well, I downloaded Flash Player 9 for SPARC, but my laptop's dead, so I couldn't try the x86 version. But that's a good point I suppose; if they get lots of downloads (both please, don't want to see them drop SPARC in favor of x86!), they just might take notice.

Seems to work great for me on S10U3 as well...
Except I just copied to ~/.mozilla/plugins/

Same here, except I still couldn't watch the video on Fox News (Yeah, yeah, I know I know, being a life-long you-know-what--GW & I used to lick stamps together when the Senior was running for president--this is the main channel I watch; idiots have their right. Right?)
For me, the fact that Adobe is interested in porting the most current version of flashplayer into Solaris is taken as a major milestone.

Hi, Would you please tell me how you did it? I've been trying to copy the file manually, but there is no firefox/plugins directory on my system, at least I can't find it. I'm using Solaris Express Community Edition. I'm used to Linux, but seem that Solaris is very different. On what directory is firefox located? Thanks in advance.

For system-wide installation, the name of the folder in which the two files, flashplayer.xpt & libflashplayer.so are to be copied to, is (even Linux distros differ among themselves, but I think Solaris Express follows the published standard):
/usr/lib/firefox/plugins
For individual user, the folder is:
$HOME/.mozilla/firefox/plugins
This sub-holder does not exist, you must first create it yourself.
