[indiana-discuss] Using Webex on OpenSolaris

I've been using OpenSolaris on my work@home laptop, for a couple of
months now, and have had relatively few problems. I recently noticed
that I am unable to make full use of Webex, specifically when it comes
to sharing applications from my desktop. In other words, the Webex
session starts just fine, and other can join the session, but when I go
to share specific applications (via Share->Applications menu), it
doesn't pop up the application selection list. Plus, at this point, all
other joiners complain that their Webex session turns green.

Anybody else noticed this? Any changes within OpenSolaris that might
explain why Webex is unable to get a list of running X applications, to
share out?

I'm currently running development build 110. I tried installing a java
1.5, but hit Motif library issues.

Thanks,
Jim

No clue about Webex but you won't have Motif issues with Java 1.6.

On build 110 and later you should be able to "pkg install SUNWmfrun"
to resolve Motif library issues. (I don't know if it will affect
anything else you're having problems with, but it should let Java 1.5
run.)

Finally got a chance to install this, and tried a number of different
java and firefox combinations, to no avail. Whenever I go to share
applications, in Webex, nothing really happens. So, that suggests
something has changed, in OpenSolaris, with the way that Webex would get
a list of applications. Webex support just worked in Nevada. Any ideas
on what that change may be?

Thanks,
Jim

Missing Motif libraries (Rather a portion of), fonts come to mind as
potential issues, also X.Org and Firefox 3.1 are notable differences
from 2008.11 to 2009.6. Maybe there's encumbered Java extensions that
aren't distrubuted, specific to such Motif dependency?

I have tried firefox 2.x, as well, with same results. How would I go
about finding missing Java extensions?

Also, I have submitted a Webex ticket on this, thinking I'm going to get
a "We don't support OpenSolaris, yet" response.

Thanks,
Jim

They won't since it's a little known fact there is any support for it.
I have no idea what is different between SXCE and Indiana's Java. There
must be something, why would it be something not related to Java?
