I'll give it a conditional +1, see below...

I think this scope is too narrow. We should also pick up the MySQL cluster feature because when people look for high availability clusters, they tend to also consider distributed clusters and this is a good forum to talk about such things. -- richard

I agree with Richard. MySQL clustering is mature enough that at this point talking about HA MySQL without touching clustering is incomplete. (Despite the fact that most deployments are probably still using hot standby replication)
Also look at MySQL proxy server. It is part of the story.

Detlef and I discussed this by phone. The plan is to start here and add more stuff later. This seems reasonable given the long time existence of the MySQL agent. -- richard

Detlef,
I give my +1 to whichever way you agree with Richard and Brian to scope it.
Thanks, Nick

Sounds reasonable to run with what you have now, and add more functionality as time goes on.

Hi,
This is a an umbrella project, for HA MySQL, so the scope is by no means limited. We can add subprojects, or whatever fits in the OHAC scope as we proceed. The Sun Cluster HA Agent for MySQL can be configured to protect standbys as well, so we are already supporting the hot stand by replication between cluster resources, regardless whether they are in the same cluster or in a different cluster, as long as the MySQL data directory is on shared storage.
We may think of the support for the hot stand by replication as a replacement for shared storage in a future subproject of this umbrella project, as we did for HA PostgreSQL. Just as an example that the scope is not that limited. Again, this is future stuff.
