[ha-clusters-discuss] OpenCLARC review of project Colorado today

Hi All,
We continued the review of project Colorado today on
OpenCLARC. The larger requirement document was reviewed in the
last review session. We spent a bit of time recapping the previous
discussion and the changes the project team has made in the
proposal as a result. I would like to thank the project team
for already having made those changes in the document (with
change bars!), which was very helpful in keeping the discussion
focused and moving forward.
We discussed the Network and HACI requirement specifications
and while the discussions got intense at times, i personally
am very impressed by the project team's willingness to
accommodate CLARC and community member's concerns. The
in-depth analysis the project team's had already performed
anticipating the questions, also helped influence CLARC
and community members to see that the project team already
has made sound engineering decisions on many/most of the points
which were brought up.
We did not review the iSCSI req spec, as it was already reviewed
separately and some of the commenters and project team members
were not available. In the interest of making sure the ongoing
discussions converge, we agreed to keep this document open
for discussions for another week, but decided that there are
no gating items for this document.
We agreed to NOT review the GDD document today. Some issues and
concerns were raised on it during the HACI review. However since
the GDD deliverables are not for Phase I, the project team
requested to delay review of the this document until a later
date. The project team would make sure that the issues which
were raised are considered before that later review.
The project team would put together a list of all pending
action items which were generated during the review and
send them to CLARC.
The CLARC members did not find any of the actions items to
be gating for the project and agreed to approve the project
for inception (minus the GDD part).
On a non-technical node, the discussion was very lively and i thought
productive. I would like to thank everyone, particularly our non-SUN
community members who called in, for taking the time and for sharing
their opinions.
I would also like to thank CLARC chair Steve M. for entrusting me
with the chair in his absence, i hope i did justice to the role!!
