Posted: Oct 16, 2008 11:20 PM

The ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) began its
first event of 2008 at Harbin Engineering University in China. About 110
teams (500 students) from 73 universities, and five countries (China,
Russia, Japan, Singapore, Korean) participated.

As technical sponsor, Sun provides on site technical support and
OpenSolaris, NetBeans, and SunStudio as the contest platform. Also, the
ACM/ICPC China website runs on OpenSolaris with GlassFish, Apache, and
MySQL.

In 2008, ACM/ICPC will attract 3000 teams from 400 universities to
compete online in China. There will also be five on-site contests in
China, part of the 33rd ACM/ICPC Asia Regional Contests. The China
events include:

* Oct 11-12 Harbin Harbin Engineering University
* Oct 25-26 Beijing Beijing Jiaotong University
* Nov 15-16 Hefei University of Science and Technology of China
* Nov 22-23 Hangzhou Hangzhou Dianzi University
* Nov 29-30 Chengdu Southwest University for Nationalities
