How to Contribute to Open HA Cluster

We welcome contributions from all members of the HA Clusters community! You can contribute by participating in discussions, finding bugs, fixing bugs, contributing to projects, starting your own project, etc.

• First, read the general OpenSolaris contribution instructions.
• Browse the Open HA Cluster source code.
• Hang out on the HA Clusters discussions about the code, bugs, rfes, etc. You can also subscribe to the ha-clusters discussion group and have message postings sent to your email address.

Specific Instructions

Fixing a Bug

1. Make sure you fulfill the following pre-requisites:
   • Basic Solaris knowledge
   • Basic Solaris Cluster knowledge
   • In case the CR is related to a data service, basic application knowledge
   • Access to at least a single-node cluster to develop and test on with the necessary software installed. This single-node cluster could also run within a virtualization environment like VirtualBox, VMWARE Workstation, Parallels, etc. It is important that the problem described within the CR can be reproduced.

2. Find a bug that you want to fix. If you're new to the cluster code-base, we suggest you search for bugs with the oss-bite-size keyword. Otherwise, look through all the cluster bugs, category suncluster/suncluster.

3. Send an email to request dash sponsor at opensolaris dot org. Note in the subject that the bug in question is an Open HA Cluster bug. Provide the necessary informations as described within the general OpenSolaris contribution instructions. You will get a sponsor assigned.

4. Work with your sponsor on the bug-fix process.

Contributing to a Project

1. Browse the list of active projects.

2. Start participating in the project discussion list or send an email to one of the project leads asking how you can contribute.

Starting a Project

1. If you already have a project in mind, follow the instructions for proposing a project. You can talk to the HA Clusters community leaders for advice.
