Welcome to the OpenSolaris Installation and Packaging community!

This community is dedicated to technologies and processes related to installing and maintaining software on OpenSolaris-based disributions, including tools used in building distributions.

We are currently home to four active projects:

. We also welcome discussion (and projects) related to other packaging technologies.

• Caiman installer, which is a project to rework the Solaris installer for current and future requirements
• Image Packaging System, a new packaging system being used in Project Indiana
• SVR4 packaging tools, which are the tools included in the Solaris product and some other OpenSolaris-based distributions
• Live Media, to support running Solaris directly from non-disk media such as DVD or flash memory
