Subject: RTC flag day

If you do not run ONNV on Chicago platforms, you may ignore this message.

The putback to ONNV of:

6303424 I2C RTC driver needs to be replaced by South Bridge RTC driver on
Chicago

constitutes a major flag day for Chicago platform users.

Beginning with snv_22, the RTC in the ULi southbridge will now be used
for real time clock functions instead of Fire I2C-based RTC. Chicago
systems which do not have a ULi Southbridge chip will not be able to boot,
and will see the following output, for example:

ok boot
Boot device: /pci@1e,600000/pci@0/pci@a/pci@0/LSILogic,sas@1/disk@0,0:a File
and args:
SunOS Release 5.10 Version Generic_118822-15 64-bit

If you have a Chicago system without a ULi southbridge chip you will
need to have a motherboard upgrade in order to run subsequent versions
of ONNV.

In order to support older systems which do not have a ULi sothbridge
chip, a special netinstall version will be created which supports the
Fire I2C-base RTC. Please contact chicago_sw at sun dot com for details.

Thank you,
