Heads-Up: SATA Framework integration

Subject: Heads-Up: SATA Framework integration
With the integration of:
PSARC/2004/779 SATA HBA Framework Support
PSARC/2005/679 SATA HBA Framework Support (Updated)
The support for SATA native mode controllers on x86 platforms
was putback into onnv build 32. This project deliver generic SATA
framework and SATA HBA driver for the Silicon Image 3124 controller.
The basic functionality delivered in the first phase of this project
includes:
* SATA disks used by Solaris OS as SCSI disks (with features
limited by SATA capabilities).
* Solaris common scsi disk target driver used to control SATA disks.
* SATA-1 and SATA-2 hard disks compatibility (Gen-2 signaling
speed 3.0Gb/s).
* Hard disk hot-plugging support (cfgadm controlled).
* cfgadm support for managing SATA device hot-plugging.
What was not delivered:
SATA HBA driver for the Marvell 88sx50XX and 88sx60XX
controllers - these will be delivered as soon as legal agreements are
finalized.
ATAPI devices support, Native Command Queuing support, Port Multiplier
support, SMART support, bootable SATA devices, SPARC platform
support. These features are scheduled for future phases of the
project.
