heads-up: bfu and Install usersDate: Fri, 30 Jun 2006 15:42:20 -0400 From: Sebastien Roy <Sebastien dot Roy at Sun dot COM> To: onnv-gate at onnv dot eng dot sun dot com, on-all at eng dot sun dot com Subject: heads-up: bfu and Install users My putback for: PSARC/2006/248 Nemo MAC-Type Plugin Architecture PSARC/2006/249 Nemo Changes for Binary Compatibility 6384371 GLDv3 only supports Ethernet 6242059 nemo drivers must not know the size of the mac_t structure 6226635 MAC stats interface could cause problems with binary compatibility has implications for both bfu and Install (cap-eye Install) detailed below: bfu: ---- This change contributes an updated bfu script. When doing a backward bfu to an ON build prior to this putback, this updated bfu script is required if the system being downgraded has GLDv3 aggregation configuration (dladm show-aggr contains aggregations). The SUNWonbld package from /ws/onnv-gate/public/packages will contain the updated script at approximately midnight Pacific time. This heads-up is to remind those who keep local cached copies of the bfu script to also update those in order prevent accidental corruption of aggregation configuration in the future. Install: -------- This change requires that user-land libraries (libdladm.so and liblaadm.so), the dladm(1M) command, the rcm_daemon, and GLDv3 kernel modules all be synchronized. Therefore use of Install to install these bits is unsafe. Use of bfu is, as always, a safe way to install these bits. -Seb |
