Subject: Heads Up!

Greetings,

As of very late Friday (b50 respin), the default Java will be Java SE 6
(aka: jdk 1.6.0).

Users of bfu/Install or other ad hoc tools will not see a change; Java SE 5
will continue to be the default. The change isn't directly visible in the
ON proto area. The change is only implemented through the packaging system.

The best thing to do is to completely reinstall your system using packages.
(The above is an unpaid political announcement.)

Perhaps more to the liking of bfu/Install users would be to simply
uninstall all the SUNWj6* packages and reinstall them.

Sigh, ... In doing their best to replicate the fun experience with
respect to compiler warnings we had with Solaris 10, a last minute
warning was added to the Java compiler. We did our best to get these
new warnings silenced. We almost succeeded but decided not to wait
for the last one to be silenced. (Danek suggested this.) This
unsilenced warning is "6477964 fix for 6466670 is incomplete".

Special thanks to all those who scrambled to fix the other warnings.

If you encounter difficulties, the best thing is probably to contact
me. I should know who to redirect you to.

The bugtraq reporting is pretty much the same as always. This is the
release formerly code named "mustang". There is no new code name, but
mustang is what you want to use in bugtraq. `java -fullversion` should
give you the exact build.
