Welcome to CHOSUG, the Switzerland OpenSolaris User Group!For the 1st anniversary of OpenSolaris, OpenSolaris users based in Switzerland started to get together on a regular basis for informal but technical presentations & demos and even beers! If you're thirsty jump to our Announcements to know the date of the next CHOSUG Beer2Beer Session! As you see, we are using the 5th national language for this page but we will certainly use the 4 others (OK at least 3 :-)) when appropriate, especially for the events we'll organize in several locations in Switzerland. The best way to stay tuned with CHOSUG is to susbcribe to our RSS flow Who is an OpenSolaris user?Anyone who is using Solaris is potentially a OpenSolaris user. If you're a developer, a sys. admin or an end-user interested in what's under the hood, you are probably one. OpenSolaris is the open source project based on Solaris 10 source code that Sun started to release in 2005. OpenSolaris is the place where Nevada (aka Solaris 11) is cooking since all future versions of Solaris will be based on the OpenSolaris project. OpenSolaris is also the place where the Solaris code is ported to new platforms like PowerPC (just in case you need to recycle your old Macs) or where people are collaborating to improve support for laptop hardware. There is actually much more: look at the amazing numbers of communities and projects that started under the OpenSolaris umbrella. What is CHOSUG? What is it for?CHOSUG is an open and free community: everybody can join and nothing to pay.The only requirement is that you should be ready and interested to share. Why? Because CHOSUG is meant to be the platform to enable experience and knowledge sharing among OpenSolaris users based in Switzerland. The plan is to enable online sharing (this site, the forum) and in real life (regular events). Who is behind CHOSUG?CHOSUG was initiated by a couple of Sun employees based in Switzerland and we are expecting now to have non-Sun CHOSUG leaders on board very soon.
