Fully Open X (FOX) Project sponsored | 07/10/2007The X Window System Community has agreed to sponsor a new OpenSolaris project, FOX: The Fully Open X Project. The Fully Open X Project (FOX) will create a public Mercurial gate on opensolaris.org containing a merge of these three source bases:

Xorg 7.2 in Solaris Nevada Build 58 | 02/20/2007The Xorg 7.2 X servers and drivers have been integrated into Nevada build 58. For the first time, this includes not only 32-bit x86 X server binaries, but also 64-bit x86 and 64-bit SPARC X server binaries. The Xorg server is also joined on all platforms by the Xorg version of Xvfb and the Xephyr nested X server. For more details, see the heads up message posted to xwin-discuss. marTux_0.1 LiveCD with Xorg for sparc | 04/10/2006… is the first non-sx/sxcr OpenSolaris distribution for sparc (sun4u for now, sun4v later). I'm having a nice Desktop distro in mind, in the longer run. It is already featuring a complete gcc3 built X.Org X11R6.9 (incl. the actual Xorg server binary and therefore finally with drivers supporting a few pci sparc frame buffers). See http://blogs.sun.com/roller/page/alanc?entry=xorg_for_solaris_sparc for the until-today background story. It does work now :) These are the first working X.Org binaries for sparc – Solaris ever released! You might try "xorgconfig" / "Xorg -configure" / "startx" etc. if you have a TSI Raptor 8p , PGX, PGX32, PGX64 or XVR-100 framebuffer. The initial homepage will be at http://user.cs.tu-berlin.de/~mbeinsx/marTux starting over the night / tomorrow. I'll make the currend marTux_01.iso image available within the next 48 hours or less. This v0.1 release is unstable ALPHA software. Please report your experience to bochnig AT pool.math.tu-berlin DOT de X Consolidation sources posted to opensolaris.org | 03/31/2006The first code drop from the X Window System Consolidation has been posted to opensolaris.org. It's a snapshot of a subset of the Solaris X Consolidation code from partway through Nevada build 38. Details on what's included and links to downloads & licenses can be found on the X Community Sources page at: http://opensolaris.org/os/community/x_win/sources/ Source is not yet available in the OpenSolaris Source Browser, but work is in progress on preparing that for availability sometime next week. |
