Project Clearview: Documentation

The following project Clearview documentation is available for review:

  • IP Observability Devices – Introduces the use of snoop with a new command option to allow monitoring of traffic on the IP layer. Provides examples of traffic monitoring.
  • IP Tunnel Administration (4/8/08) – Shows revised procedures to configure IP tunnels resulting from rearchitecturing under project Clearview.
  • IPMP Groups
    • IPMP Overview (6/6/08) – Discusses IP Multipathing Groups, their components, and the processes behind interface failure and repair detection. Most current concepts behind IPMP continue to apply. However, a new abstraction, the IPMP interface, is also introduced that simplifies IPMP implementation and makes IPMP administration more cohesive.
    • IPMP Administrative Procedures (7/3/08) – Provides revised procedures to configure, maintain, and monitor IPMP groups. It introduces a new step to create IPMP interfaces, as well as the new command (ipmpstat) that is used to obtain different types of information about IPMP groups.
  • Network Link Names
    • Overview (4/11/08) – Explains the interrelationship between layers in the network stack. Specifically, it shows relationship between links and interfaces in the software layer, as well as with the devices in the hardware layer. The use of administratively-chosen names in the network setup is also introduced.
    • Network Link Administration (10/3/07) – Provides procedures to configure network link while using link names. The procedures use the new dladm subcommands that are introduced by project Clearview.
    • VLAN Administration (10/3/07) – Describes additional network configuration procedures that show how link names are applied when administering VLANs.
    • Link Aggregation Administration (10/3/07) – Lists procedures to create, configure, and maintain link aggregations by using updated dladm subcommands that accommodate use of link names.

NOTE: The documents that are posted on this page are drafts that accompany undergoing work and development on different project Clearview components. As such, the contents are subject to change. Because of the projects' status as work-in-progress, some references in the documents are also tentative, such as the Solaris Express release in which a component is integrated, or other documents that contain information about other project Clearview components.
