Welcome to the OpenSolaris Content Project

We are looking for writers, editors, reviewers, and artists to participate. Both technical and non-technical community members are welcome and we'll be talking on content-discuss.

The OpenSolaris Content Project will do the following:
  • develop an editorial plan and article/content review process
  • solicit and publish content from the community on opensolaris.org
  • help community members write/edit/review content for other venues
  • grow the process into a fully peer-reviewed, community-led system

Contributing to Curriculum

**NEW** The Content project now has a repository of source files for the OpenSolaris Curriculum, titled Introduction to Operating Systems: A Hands-On Approach Using the OpenSolaris Project. To get a copy of the files:

hg clone ssh://anon at hg dot opensolaris dot org/hg/content/curriculum mycopy

A read-only copy will be cloned into a new directory called mycopy. If you are a leader on this project, you can replace anon with your username to clone a writable copy. You can browse the repository here or read the PDFs: Student Guide

Initially, the OpenSolaris Content Project will provide a forum for community members interested in writing, editing, and reviewing OpenSolaris content for the Articles page. These articles could also be used as content for conferences, user groups, and journals as well as for communities on opensolaris.org and outside opensolaris.org. The project will encourage the creation of many types of community-wide content, including feature articles, community profiles, technical articles, industry trend articles, commentaries, and Q&As. We will also expand the Articles page (and re-name it) to include multi-media content such as artwork, podcasts, screencasts, and videos.

The members of the content project will collaborate closely with all of the other communities and projects on the site. For some background, read the threads about the content project proposal here and here.
