CPU Performance Counters

Intel processors now support Architectural Performance Monitoring as described in Intel® 64 and IA-32 Architectures Software Developer’s Manual Volume 3B: System Programming Guide, Part 2 Order Number: 253669-026US (Sections 18.11-23 and Appendix A). Support for this being added and is being tracked under 6537929 CPC support for Intel Woodcrest (Xeon 51xx) is not working and 6661753 Add support for performance counters on Intel future processors.
